While in Amarillo TX, we visited the Texas Aviation Historical Society's small museum at English Air Field, Amarillo's original municipal airport. We were told that the UFO-looking craft was part of the original experiments to determine how to land a craft on Mars. The sign to the right of the "flying saucer" discusses how the disks were launched by balloon from Roswell NM and dropped over White Sands Missle Range NM!
